Tom Durrrr Dwan Issues a New Challenge

Well, the man definitely doesn't lack confidence nor a sense of adventure. Nearly 8 months ago, Tom "Durrrr" Dwan issued what is famously known as the million dollar challenge in which he issued an open challenge to anyone who would play him heads up on 4 tables at a time for a total of 50,000 hands. The winner would get 3 to 1 odds if he were able to be up at least $1 at the conclusion of the hands. Patrik Antonius, Phil Ivey and David Benyamine quickly stepped up to take the challenge and Antonius is still at about the halfway point in his matchup. Though this contest is far from over, that didn't stop Dwan from issuing a new challenge over thee weekend.

New Durrrr Challenge

This time, he will square of in a series of live heads up matches in London against 4 separate opponents in September. The heads-up matches are expected to take place in conjunction with the annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) Europe, which runs from September 19th to October 2nd at the London Clubs International. Of the event, Dwan said, "I am looking forward to sitting down and playing some of the world's best players live in London. There looks to be lots of interest in people wanting to play me, but they never seem to appear online. It will be interesting to see the response and just who is willing to get it on."

This challenge seems like a modified version of his online challenge. Each of his opponents will sit with him with $500,000 and play $500-$1000 Pot Limit Omaha or No Limit Hold Em and will last for a maximum of 500 hands and will continue until the 500 hands are concluded or one of the players has busted. Dwan's opponent gets to choose which game is played.

At present time, it is not known who has accepted the challenge. We can be sure that whoever ponies up the buy in will be an accomplished and deep-pocketed poker player. Say this about Dwan, love him or hate him, the man has guts.

At present time, just shy of the halfway point, Dwan has a $726,000 edge on Antonius.
