Real Time Fantasy Sports Imminent Claims ESPN

ESPN.com this week reveals that real time fantasy sports isn’t just a fantasy, it’s imminent.

They should know.  The sports media group last month entered into a multi-million dollar partnership deal with one of the largest Daily Fantasy Sports sites DraftKings.com.

This shouldn’t surprise anybody, especially avid followers of the Gambling911.com website.  For the North American-facing online sportsbooks, live in-play wagering accounts for more than half the volume.  This type of betting is also popular – and some would say more acceptable – throughout Europe.

"In-game fantasy sports platforms are certain to gain some traction in the next few years, as the appetite for new games, instant gratification and marketing dollars is so significant right now," said Tom Masterman, chief revenue officer for Sportradar US in Minneapolis, in an interview with ESPN.

Sportradar recently entered into a deal with the NFL that will provide real-time player tracking for every single player.

"Broadcasters, portals, fantasy sports and social media are just some of the platforms that will make use of this innovative data,” Masterman adds.

"By this time next year, we expect new stats like openness, separation/closing speed and route efficiency to enter the vernacular of the average football fan."
