Pittsburgh Area Bookies: Western PA

Pittsburgh area bookies cater to a hardcore sports betting crowd that have pledged their allegiance, not only to the Steelers, but to the Penguins NHL team and, to a lesser extent perhaps, the Pirates MLB team.  Pittsburgh colleges have enjoyed success in Men’s Basketball and to some degree Football.

Sports bars are everywhere and it is at these sports bars where one is bound to run into their local Pittsburgh bookie.  Some of the more popular hangouts include Hough’s, Silky’s, The Bulldog Pub, Blue Line Grille and Redbeards on Sixth.

Pennsylvania over the years has embraced gambling.  Both betting and bookmaking are considered misdemeanors.  There are cases of much larger bookmaking operations being busted primarily in the Eastern part of the state.  Most of these are alleged to have Mob ties, however.
