PIC Club Hires Frank Catania to get its Money

Online poker payment platform PIC Club had hired noted gaming attorney Frank Catania to recover funds from a failed online poker venture, Eurolinx, Gambling911.com has learned.

In his letter to Eurolinx, Catania advises:

"The agreement also provides that exclusive jurisdiction and venue for resolution of any legal action arising from the agreement shall lie in the federal courts of Costa Rica and that any such action shall be resolved in accordance with Costa Rican law.  Therefore, if we are unable to amicably resolve this matter, it is my client's intention to institute suit in Costa Rica immediately.  Should Eurolinx fail to appear, my client will request a default judgment in Costa Rica, and will seek enforcement of the Costa Rican judgment in the courts of Malta or Curacao.  In this connection, I also remind you that the agreement between the parties provides that attorney's fees and other costs of litigation, enforcement and collection, can be recovered by PIC Club and will be added to any judgment."

Eurolinx announced in August that it was going into liquidation, following in the past of several other online poker rooms that have shut down in the past year.

Eurolinx was part of the Microgaming Online Poker platform.  To date, Microgaming has not offered any assistance in this matter.

PIC Club is also involved in a public spat over payment with the Merge Online Poker Network, which has drawn extensive commentary from Gambling911.com readers in recent days

lol...cute story. i'd like

lol...cute story. i'd like to know the relationship between pic club and gambling911, because this hardly qualifies as news. wow, pic club hired some old senile dude to write a letter to eurolinx. "gaming attorney?" what kind of quack must this guy be...i wonder if he's even won or lost a case in his career, or if all he does is write futile empty threats to online gaming companies on behalf of their idiotic customers?

clueless

If you have no idea who Catania is, its back to "Curious George and the Man in the Yellow Hat" for you pallie. He's only one of the most well respected land based regulators in the world, having served many, many years with the NJ State Dept of Gaming Enforcement and having been instrumental in the creation and development of some of the most important online regulatory policies and player protection practices since this industry was in diapers. Do yourself a favor and read a book before you open that food hole of yours.

Would Make a Boring Story

Neither PIC Club nor Merge advertises here. PIC Club though has heavy support from the guys down in Costa Rica, which we've alluded to. One of these individuals is Mickey Richardson of BetCRIS. They have saved probably two dozen failing sportsbooks over the years and probably bailed out thousands of players who were getting the shaft. Anyone who's followed this industry fro the past 12 some odd years would understand where I am coming from. In regard to the fees, this seems no different than the early days of bonus offerings where guys would come in, deposit money, bet one game, pull and get the 20 percent bonus. So in these situations there has to be some discretion. Both sides may have valid points and we are presenting both sides of the story in our reporting. As for Eurolynx, they shut down and I think PIC Club paid all their customers out of pocket, so I'm not exactly sure what this comment is in reference to. I can understand people supporting Merge. There is no reason I can think of to support Eurolynx. Frank Catania is a pretty big name in gambling.
