New Jersey Governor Chris Christie Press Conference on Internet Gambling

For those of you looking to watch New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s 11 am ET scheduled press conference on his decision to either sign or veto a bill that would legalize Internet gambling, you can go to this link here for all streaming live press conferences coming from the Governor’s office

The online gambling sector is waiting anxiously to see what Christie decides here.  Some have speculated that the Governor would not be holding a press release if he were simply going to veto the bill.  Others believe he will veto conditionally, meaning Christie will ask for amendments to the measure then ultimately sign off.  Such amendments could include making it easier for US-based casinos to get first dibs on the new marketing.  The New Jersey Governor is reportedly under intense pressure from Caesar’s Entertainment not to sign off on the bill, however, Caesar’s may not exactly want to be the party crasher considering they operate the World Series of Poker, which relies heavily on Internet poker’s prominence.

Ironically it was nearly 13 years to the day (March 5, 1998) that the US Government took its first decisive measure against the offshore/online gambling sector, indicting 21 of the biggest operators of that time including industry pioneers like Al Ross and Jay Cohen.

Gambling911.com anticipates the press conference to be shown via this link.

Gambling911.com Publisher Chris Costigan will be arriving in New Jersey on Friday to report from the state.
