Nevada Gaming Revenue Down Nearly 5 Percent in June

CARSON CITY, Nev. — (Associated Press) - State officials say Nevada gambling revenues went down 4.8 percent in June compared with a year earlier.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board released statistics Friday showing casinos won $792 million in June, down from $833 million in June 2012.

Las Vegas Strip winnings of $435 million were down 10 percent year-over-year.

But the situation was the opposite a little further down the road: Downtown Las Vegas winnings of $37 million were up 9 percent.

Reno casino revenue added up to $49 million in June and was down about 3 percent. South Lake Tahoe winnings of $13 million dropped 24 percent.

The state collected $43 million in taxes based on the June winnings, which was 13 percent up from the prior year.
