Kahnawake Gaming Commission: No Addressing the Status of Absolute Poker, UB.com

General Counsel not asked about Absolute Poker payment status nor does he bring it up

SBR newswoman Natalie Rydström interviews Murray Marshall, General Counsel for the Kahnawake Gaming Commission. Since 1999, the Kahnawake Gaming Commission has been the licensing and regulatory authority for Canadian interactive gaming companies. Mr. Marshall discusses in detail how the KGC operates.

What many people want to know is “What’s the status of UB.com and Absolute Poker”?

As many Gambling911.com readers will recall, UB.com and Absolute Poker got caught up in the infamous “Black Friday” indictments of April 15, 2011.  UB.com and its sister online poker room Absolute Poker were fully licensed by the KGC.

Until now, UB.com has yet to pay back its US players and countless others across the globe.  Kahnawake has remained mostly silent on the issue. They continue to stay silent, making no mention of the current status of UB.com/Absolut Poker.  To be fair to Ms. Rydström, SBR Forum primarily focuses on the sports betting sector for which both Bovada Sportsbook (formerly Bodog) and Sports Interaction are licensed by the KGB and have had few problems in terms of player disputes that were not ultimately resolved.   We do trust that Rydström will request a follow up interview or statement on this matter in the not-so-distant future.

On player protection, Marshall noted that it  “Manifests itself in a number of ways”. He focused more on age verification and self-exclusion rather than if the operate is financially solvent.

Marshall claims the KGC does have an officer assigned specifically to disputes resolutions.

“We get good results for resolving disputes,” Marshall noted.

That’s no consolation to UB.com players, however.

Marshall did note that legalization of online gambling within the US could possibly impact the KGC in a negative way as the environment is sure to become more competitive.
