How I Started Using Betting Sites in the UK

I have a confession to make – until recently, I knew absolutely nothing about sports. Sure, I kicked a ball around with my friends on the street and all, but I have never actually watched football. I never quite got it, as to me it just seemed like a bunch of guys running around a field for an hour and a half. What's so exciting about that, right? After moving to the UK, though, I found that my habits had to change. Sports, especially football, are pretty big here, and how could they not be – that's the homeland of Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea, names so big that anyone, even a football noob like me, was intimately familiar with.

On the other hand, one thing that I have always enjoyed is making wagers. It started out when I was a kid (“Bet you can't eat this piece of chalk!”) and continued well into my adult life. These days, one of my absolute favourite activities is making bets with my friends, like when we're in a bar or watching a film together. I've found that placing wagers makes everything all the more exciting and investing. Even if what you're watching is actually pretty boring, you're immediately brought to the edge of your seat if there's a bet on the line. Considering that passion of mine, I decided to do the obvious thing and try to introduce myself to sports through wagering.

I spent quite a bit of time thinking about exactly how I was supposed to approach this. I considered going to a physical bookmaker, assuming that the person working there would be able to help me out with my decisions, point me in the right direction, etc. But the thing is, I'm generally a pretty shy and withdrawn person – unless I'm in the company of people I know extremely well, I tend to keep to myself and avoid speaking very much. And the idea of going to a professional who is getting paid to be extremely knowledgeable about sports and telling him or her “Yo, I know absolutely nothing, but want to bet” didn't really appeal to me.

So, what other options were there? In this day and age, we use the Internet for literally anything you can think of, from keeping up with old friends to checking your symptoms when you're sick. So I figured that maybe I'll be able to bet on sports online, too. I expected to find a community where people place wagers against each other, or something simple like that. But as it turned out, there's an entire industry built around sports betting, and it is absolutely thriving in the UK! I found myself a little overwhelmed, honestly! A part of me began to wish for the comfort and convenience of some sort of imaginary bookmaker who'd take his time to explain how everything worked to me.

Well, lucky for me, my dream bookie advisor actually exists, and he does so in a form that's quite friendly to socially awkward people like myself. Soon enough, I found lots of sites specifically dedicated to helping out UK gamblers who are either starting out or have some experience and need a second opinion. My advisor during my rite of passage was bestbettingsites.co.uk, which was absolutely loaded with precious info describing the various types of bets, what markets are available and, as the name suggests, giving recommendations about when it came to online bookies. It took me no more than a couple of days to take in all the info and place my very first wager!

I'm mostly writing this article to let people know that, if you ever wanted to get into any kind of gambling, especially online, but never knew where to start, there are places where you can learn quickly and easily.

I won't pretend to be any sort of big-time gambler. I've only just started a few months ago, but I'm actually having tons of fun. Football games have shifted from a boring snoozefest to an edge-of-your-seat spectacle almost overnight. And sure, I'm not exactly a football encyclopedia yet, but I've learned more than enough to allow me to keep up with my friends when they start discussing football. And I was actually lucky enough to earn a few pounds in the process! That seems like a pretty sweet deal to me!
