Outgoing Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid has said he will assist in any way possible to push through legislation banning most forms of Internet gambling, including poker.

Restore America’s Wire Act or RAWA is the brainchild of casino magnate and GOP megadonor Sheldon Adelson.  The legislation is co-authored by Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Republican Representative Jason Chavitz of Utah.

“I will not stand in his way at all,” Reid said of Graham’s efforts to try and get his bill passed. “If it passes the House, we are going to give a good try in the Senate.”

The measure is bi-partisan in the sense that some Democrats do oppose legalized online gambling while, at the same time, some conservative Republicans have expressed concerns over the bill overstepping on state rights.
