eSports Online Gambling Site Unikrn About to Close on ‘Major’ 2nd Round of Fundi

Speaking to SBC News Sam Cooke on Monday, Rahul Sood, co-founder of eSports online gambling site Unikrn, revealed his firm is about to receive another round of secured funding.

“This is a big one for us,” he said, with the announcement forthcoming.  “I think people were drawn to us because we’re building a real business here with an amazing team, a great culture, and a clear vision.”

eSports, or competitive video gaming, now has a worldwide fan base that rivals that of American football.  Unikrn is one of only a handful of eSports online gambling websites that currently exist.

It has established a partnership with Australia’s well-entrenched Tabcorp betting empire and last month entered into the United Kingdom market.  In an ironic twist, Unikrn is yet to begin accepting customers from the United States even though the company is based out of Washington State (which just happens to be the only state that makes placing an online bet a Class C felony).

While eSports wagering must contend with jurisdictional regulation obstacles, the investors keep coming.

“If there’s one thing I learned running MIcrosoft Ventures it was how to remove as much risk off the table as a startup and focus on the core of your business,” Sood said. “At Unikrn I believe we have done everything we can to strengthen and bolster the company, we eliminated as much risk as possible.  We established a strong partnership with Tabcorp, with new partnerships pending. We also brought on a group of investors who put effort behind their money.”

The future of eSports looks increasingly bright.

“Universities are funding scholarships around eSports, IVY League schools are next, major companies are sponsoring and betting companies are stepping up their game.  At Unikrn, we’re well positioned to be a player in this market.  It’s only been a few months and we’ve effectively gone from nobody to an international player.”

Unikrn will also be enhancing its platform soon with other gambling options, which Sood would not elaborate further on.
