Court Orders Online Casino to Pay Back $1 Million

An Austrian High Court has ordered that an online casino based out of Malta to pay back $1 million euro in losses to a gambler after ruling the website did not have a proper license to operate.

The move which is now backed by a High Court ruling in Austria could mean a flood of similar legal actions against online casinos operating in Europe that may not have proper licenses, according to The Austrian Times

The legal action started after the 40-year-old man's employer discovered that he had been stealing from the firm in order to fund his habit.

The man in question has since been sacked from the firm.

Neither the man nor the online casino were identified in the report.
