CardSpike Poker Affiliates Want Answers From CAP

Jan 1 2009 - 9:23pm

Online poker affiliates claim a relatively new room has been stiffing them.  That room is CardSpike.com, launched last this past summer.  A number of its affiliates and some industry observers have told Gambling911.com the new online poker room is owned by some individuals behind Casino Affiliate Programs, also known as CAP - an online gambling affiliate conference promotion group.

Payton O'Brien, Senior Editor for Gambling911.com questioned why anyone from CAP would risk their highly successful business model to engage in such a conflict of interest, not to mention the legal ramifications.

"We know and respect the folks behind CAP," O'Brien stated.  "For whatever the reason there are quite a few people who have it out for CAP, which sometimes makes it difficult to separate facts from fiction. "The two people who are behind the program, claim that they do not own it but are only managing the affiliate aspects of the company through effectivemedia.com which is related to Casino Affiliate Programs," a source tells Gambling911.com.

What is known, however, is that CardSpike has been giving many of its affiliates the run around.

"Since the launch of CardSpike, affiliates have made a number of complaints," one of its affiliates claims.  "There are still outstanding payments owing to rakeback players."

Angry CardSpike.com affiliates have also taken their anger to the TwoPlusTwo Posting forums.

"The fraudulent "safety seal" (paid for) at PAP/CAP (poker affiliate programs and casino affiliate programs) is a sham, this site is run by ******.

This company has told SOME affiliates to stop sending players, even though most affiliates and some players have not been paid or cashouts processed.

Why tell a select few affiliates to stop sending players? I believe this poker room was opened as a hit and run operation and frankly think the Cake Network should do something about it - and fast!"

The Cake Poker network hosts CardSpike.com.

While cashout issues tend to be the norm due to limited processing access for US facing online poker rooms, a number of the complaints filed have come from those affiliates operating outside the United States.

Nat Arem, who became widely known for his role in unveiling a cheating scandal involving Absolute Poker, has also warned affiliates and players alike not to patronize the CardSpike.com website.

"I want to make everyone aware, that, if you do sign up for a Cake Poker network rakeback account, do NOT do it at CardSpike," he warns on his own blog website. "CardSpike is a rogue skin on the Cake Poker network that has been delaying making payouts for months now.  If you're going to sign up for rakeback on the Cake Network, do it either at Cake Poker or Players Only.  There are many reputable rakeback operators who run rakeback on these networks."

Hasn't their PAP Seal been

Hasn't their PAP Seal been revoked by the staff at CAP/PAP? Surely they wouldn't do that if they actually owned the product?? Also a bunch of these posts and articles are from the Jeremy Enke Cliche - Until I see a mainstream independent article on a respected site I will reserve my judgement - One thing I will do though is hold of playing or promoting them!!

PAP Seal's a Shame

Of course they removed it to protect their ass. Your saying that it takes them 4 mths to realize that they should remove the seal. Yeah right! They removed it because someone posted that if they didnt receive their money they would post the details about CS using all media outlets. Thats when they revoked the status. either way Effective Media is owned by a few of the owners of PAP/CAP and has the contract for CardSpike. They manage the affiliate aspects of the poker room along with a casino. Explain why there have been no payments from CardSpike and how they managed to stay part of the certified programs for so long....because its their own program. There would be no way in hell Lou would ever let another company do that. The fact is that CAP owes affiliates and has not paid them the money they were paid by the Cake network. Its not one affiliate. Its all of them expcept for the person they paid off with hush money.

Hi CAP employee :) "Until I

Hi CAP employee :) "Until I see a mainstream independent article on a respected site I will reserve my judgement" Yea, because I'm sure all of these affiliates have a motive to lie about not being paid by cardspike.

Strong allegations to be backed by hard facts

Look here; http://www.cardspike.com/Affilates/faq.html <p></p> Do I get credit for players who earn revenue through Share CardSpike? If a CardSpike Affiliate brings in a real money player who in turn refers friends via the CardSpike Share program, this does NOT constitute a Sub-Affiliate relationship to the benefit of the CardSpike Affiliate. Share CardSpike Poker is a refer-a-friend program that will ensure that any players that profit from Share CardSpike Poker have a reason to return to CardSpike Poker and play. This increases the likelihood that the players you’ve worked hard to direct to CardSpike Poker stay and play at CardSpike Poker. <p></p> The above hints to me that they are not interested in working with rakeback affiliates. Maybe CardSpike.com should be asked about this point. <p></p> Second point - if effectivemedia.com are only running their affiliate program then the non payment issue needs to be taken up with the client directly. <p></p> Please get the facts staight before making allegations. HTML here is a nightmare ;)

Yup, pretty shady stuff

PAP has been covering up for Cardspike ever since players and affiliates started complaining about not being paid. The new owners of PAP went on a banning spree (including banning just about every moderator) and locking any thread that pertained to Cardspike. On top of that PAP paid someone off just to keep them quiet for a little bit. Now why would a forum pay out an affiliate for a site they're not involved with? Very simple when you put the pieces together.

Stop the Madness

When are Affiliate Poker and Casino Sites going to stop paying 40K a month at this shady casino affiliate program site?

less

its 10k year....

Actually...

Nope... it's actually $10,000 a QUARTER per program... uless you're what they consider a "high maintenence" account, then it can be much more. And all you get for that money is a crappy room in their forum where you get bashed by affiliates on a regular basis. This is why the "CAP Certified" Seal is worthless. They have a ton of members who are rogued and blacklisted everywhere but no one notices. They may have pulled Card Spikes "approval" but I assure you it's for appearance sake. Maybe if these programs weren't forking over $10,000 a QUARTER for fake "certifications" and dropping another $30.000 on the next CAP Convention (they come around every 2-3 months now) then they would have some cash left over to PAY AFFILIATES!!!!

opps

maybe they saw you coming :) - i was offered 10k for the year, but turned it down as I believe the 'seal' is worthless and hardly value for money. I think the conventions they hold are poor excuses for a piss up. Each to there own!

They should pay you

With the clusterfuck they've created, they should be paying their partners $10k a year for the bad rap! Instead it should be a PAL seal of approval which people would trust.

This does not surprise me

This does not surprise me one bit. The owners of CAP are the greediest people in the business. For years they have tried to build a monopoly and run the affiliate side of the industry like the mafia. The reason so many advertisers stick around is because it is quasi extortion. The vast majority of affiliates truly believe that being a certified program means something. And guess what happens when an advertiser simply decides to not renew a certification, they get publicly de-certified. The company is a joke and I sincerely hope they are ran out of this industry just like they have tried to run so many others out of it in the past. If you think Lou (Professor) gives a shit about affiliates or anything other than his advertising cash cow, you are sorely mistaken. As has been said already, what goes around comes around.

I've seen alot in this industry

I have seen alot of things in this business. But I have never seen until now companies in this business literally funding their own competitor. And the sums of $40K/year x 70 advertisers + is over $1.9 million a year....funding a competitor. That blows me away.

Actually This Is Quite Common

A handful of website portals over the year taking ad money from competitors are owned by online gambling sites. I was always told that WinnerOnline was owned by an online casino - not sure if that is the case or still is the case. TheRx.com is owned by Marty Jensen, who in turn owns several online casinos (many of which were long considered "rogue" for bonus confiscation). I'm not saying this is right, just that it is nothing new in this industry.

Lou

Is Lou actually still alive? Did he make it out of the hospital? His posts never seem to be him.. The personality just seems funky.
