Texas vs. Oklahoma

The Texas vs. Oklahoma College Football spread was coming in at Sooners -3 across the board with very little deviation.  The spread opened at -4.  Some 85 percent of bettors were on Oklahoma.  This one promises to be one fantastic college football game.   There are quite a few this weekend in fact.

ESPN.com’s Scout’s Edge gives this one to the Sooners by more than the current spread:

Texas' offense is struggling to find its rhythm in the post-McCoy era and facing a fast, aggressive Oklahoma defense is not going to help the problem. Turnovers and three-and-out drives are deadly against the Sooners because of the tempo of their offensive attack, and while Oklahoma lacks a quality run game its no-huddle, hurry-up approach will eventually wear down the Longhorns. Expect this to be a low-scoring, hard-hitting affair. The team that can weather the early storm offensively should be the one to come out on top. We lean toward Oklahoma because it has more experience at quarterback, more weapons around him and more of an offensive identity.

Prediction: Sooners 24, Longhorns 19

Some important considerations before betting against the spread in this series:

Texas has won the last two but the series is pretty split over the last 6 games.

The Longhorns are 7-0 ATS in their last 7 games following a double-digit loss at home.  However, they are also 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games following a SU loss of more than 20 points.

Oddly enough, the Sooners are 1-7-1 ATS in their last 9 games following a S.U. win.
