Texans-Cowboys Betting Line: Week 5 Fantasy Value for Tony Romo, DeMarco Murray

The Texans-Cowboys betting line was coming in at Dallas -6.5 across the board after opening at -4.  The books are pushing action towards Houston and probably will not cross the dangerous number 7 threshold.  Action was balanced at this number.  We also have your Week 5 fantasy value on Tony Romo and DeMarco Murray.

Both teams come into this game with 3-1 records.  Dallas might be one of the season’s biggest surprises as they were given early odds of winning UNDER 6.5 regular season games.  If they can eliminate their turnovers to zero as they did this week, the Cowboys could prove to be a serious Playoffs contender down the road.

Tony Romo has completed 73 percent of his passes with six TDs against one interception.

For fantasy players, ESPN.com warns that signal-callers have averaged just 13.25 standard fantasy points versus the Texans this season.  They do note that Houston has played a relatively short schedule up to this point, however.

FantasyPros.com also appears apprehensive about Romo:

“The Week 5 matchup with Houston is a tough one though; Houston is seventh in the league in Opponent QB rating and, although they are near the bottom of the league in sacks, have former Defensive Player of the Year JJ Watt rushing the passer. A lot of the Cowboys game plan will be focused on the run and the play action passing game and Romo may be in the low-200's in passing yards as he manages the game and DeMarco Murray takes advantage of the weak Texans run defense.”

Your best option this week would be on Dallas runningback DeMarco Murray.

On pace for 396 carries, 2,400 total yards and 20 touchdowns, it's likely that in a draft held this week Murray would be the top overall pick, ESPN.com suggests.

With the Texans ranking 19th in fantasy points per game allowed in the rush defense, Murray should have little difficulties here.

Elsewhere, the Houston’s have permitted the 15th fewest fantasy points in the wideouts position so far this season.  The Cowboys Dez Bryant remains the top touchdown maker in this position.
