The New England Patriots host the St. Louis Rams tonight at 7:30 EDT. The 3rd preseason game typically is the closest thing to a regular season game, and if that's the case tonight this game could get ugly rather quickly. The Patriots are simply on another level when compared to the St. Louis Rams. The Patriots are -7.5 favorites tonight, with a total of 37.5 PTS.

New England has started this preseason off quite sharp, winners of both of their preseason games. The Patriots offense in particular has been brilliant, scoring 28 and 27 PTS respectively. New England is always going to be led by QB Tom Brady, but his backup QB Brian Hoyer has been quite efficient himself. Hoyer has thrown for 200 YDS this preseason, and had a QB rating of 91.4%. Defensively, the Patriots limited the Falcons to only 10 PTS. Both games New England has played this preseason have gone over the posted total. This is going to be a different year for the Patriots, as they are welcoming several new faces to a team that is used to playing veterans. The biggest training camp battle is with the TE position. Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez are fighting it out for top billing in a pass happy offense.

The Patriots are 2-0 both SU and ATS this preseason.

St. Louis showed much improvement between their 1st and 2nd preseason game. After getting annihilated against the Vikings, the Rams showed grit in beating Cleveland away from home. Both preseason games thus far for St. Louis have gone over the posted total. The Sam Bradford era has begun for the Rams, and so far it's not pretty. Bradford has only thrown for 81 YDS this preseason, with a QB rating of only 51.6. Backup Keith Null hasn't been any better, as he has only thrown for 76 YDS, with a QB rating of 43.0 this preseason. Certainly the Rams are going to need better QB play if they are going to be any better than what their record showed last year. Despite being 1-1 this preseason, the Rams have been outgained through the air and on the ground in each of their preseason games. St. Louis is going to have to show some true grit if they are to make up for the talent gap with other teams this season.

The Rams are 1-1 both SU and ATS this preseason.

Pregame.com projects the final score to be 27-10 in favor of the New England Patriots. The Patriots -7.5 is the Side of the Day!
