Following the New York Jets upset win over the San Diego Chargers during the Divisional Playoffs, psychologists have warned that fans could become seriously depressed, especially during the next few weeks as we head into the Super Bowl.

Christina Zampitella PSY.D., a specialist in bereavement, says  - "Fans feel a tragic loss in self-esteem due to the loss.

"Fans are nursing their wounds and starting to speculate who will be on the roster for next year."

Headlines cried out on Monday:  "LaDainian Tomlinson Likely Done in San Diego."

Chargers fans turned on the one time darling of San Diego, booing the running back ferociously from the stands as his team went down 17-14.

"I've heard all the speculation," he told the newspaper. "But I'll tell you what: I've had a heck of a time here and if it is (the end), I've enjoyed the ride."

How quickly we tend to forget that this was a team that won 13 straight heading into their game against New York.  They were the second biggest favorite after Indianapolis to win the 2010 Super Bowl, with even shorter odds than New Orleans at Sportsbetting.com.

"That kicker sure won't be back!" hissed an angry (and distressed) Payton O'Brien of Gambling911.com, who just happens to be a big Chargers fan.  "He better not show his face again."

The three misses were uncharacteristic for Chargers kicker Nate Kaeding, who apologized to the players and his coaches.

With 4:38 left, his kick sailed wide, causing the team to fall three points short of an overtime showdown.

"You're charged with the responsibility of putting the ball through the uprights regardless of whether you made the last one or you missed it," Kaeding said, via the North County Times. "I missed them all today."

Kaeding missed just three field-goal attempts all season before missing three against the Jets.
