Oregon-Oregon State Spread

The Oregon-Oregon State spread opened at Ducks -16.5 and that’s exactly where the line sat coming into game day Saturday, though about 5 percent of the online sportsbooks had pushed the line to -17.  Oregon was the most wagered on team in College Football this weekend.  The Oregon vs. Oregon State game was among the most lopsided, with just over 80 percent jumping on the Ducks spread.  Over 90 percent of the money line action was also on the Ducks, requiring a $75 bet just to win $10.  The OVER 64 was getting over 90 percent of the betting action in this game.

What This Game Means To The Number Two Ranked Ducks: If Oregon should beat the Beavers in this Civil War game, the Ducks will play for the national title.  Oregon was currently listed with -110 odds (near even) of winning the 2011 BCS Championship.

"We're looking at The Natty now, you know," Oregon cornerback Cliff Harris said. "I'm glad that we're Pac-10 champions, but I don't know how to feel yet because it's still a one game season."

Sports bettors want to know if Oregon will be able to beat the spread with such a large number of 16.5 points.

What do the recent historic trends say?

Oregon State and Oregon have pretty much alternated wins Against The Spread in recent years.  Oregon State has lost by more than the current spread in two of the last five games played in this series.

The Ducks are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 road games vs. a team with a losing home record and 20-6-1 ATS vs. a team with a losing record overall.

There are not a whole lot of Oregon stats that really stand out besides this one.

And that particular trend is offset by the fact that the Beavers are 9-2 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.

Oregon State is 23-8-1 ATS in their last 32 conference games.

The Beavers are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games after allowing more than 450 total yards in their previous game.

Most importantly perhaps is the Oregon State is an impressive 13-3 as an underdog during the last 3 seasons.

Gambling911.com suggests that if you are looking to bet this game, consider the OVER 64. This season, as a favorite, Oregon has gone 8-2 on the OVER.  They are 22-7 in the last 3 seasons.  As an underdog of 10.5 to 21 points, the OVER has gone 5-1 for Oregon State during the last three seasons.
