Ohio State 2016 BCS Championship Odds at 3-1: Buckeyes Bookies ‘Stung’ Last Year

The Ohio State Buckeyes odds to win the 2016 BCS Championship were coming in early at 3-1, making the reigning champs early favorites to repeat.

Bookies in the Columbus area – and throughout Ohio for that matter – are hopeful that the Buckeyes will take a page out of Florida State’s playbook and lose most of their games Against The Spread as oddsmakers skew the lines.

Last year, Ohio State covered in eight of thirteen regular season games.  They went on to cover the spread in both their semi-final game and Championship game.

“We got stung,” one bookie residing in the Columbus area tells Gambling911.com.  “More than 90 percent of bets coming in were on the Buckeyes.”

It gets worse.

Sports bettors tend to prefer the OVER when it come to totals wagering and 12 of last season’s games, including the Playoffs, went OVER the number.

Local bookies will be more motivated to shift to one of a number of contract service bookmaking businesses offshore in an effort to better monitor individual wagering patterns and to offer other gambling options such as online casinos and horse racing.

“We will need to diversify if we don’t want to be caught with our pants down again,” the local bookie tells G911.

The prospects are good for Ohio State this year, as one might expect.

From Scout.com:

It’s time for Ohio State to accept the brutally harsh fact that it’s probably better at playing college football right now than everyone else, so it needs to own it.

The Buckeyes return four starters on the offensive line and their schedule is a virtual walk in the park.  Keep monitoring the AceSportsbook.com website here for the 2015 regular season win totals betting odds.

For those bookies who operate in and around Ohio State University, it should be pointed out that offshore Pay Per Head companies abide by international gambling laws.  As such, those 18 years of age or older are welcome to do business with such establishments.  College students 18 years or older are also able to gamble. With some exceptions, most US land-based casinos require an individual to be at least 21 years old if they wish to gamble.

Remember, always make studying a number one priority if you happen to be attending Florida State University.  Never conduct your bookie business on campus as this could result in a suspension.
