Notre Dame

You know it's going to be a good game when a line opens at and doesn't move off the number 3.  This is the case with Notre Dame vs. Michigan where the line has remained Notre Dame -3 since opening.  No other sportsbook has a line off this number.  The Fighting Irish are road favorites in what is the second most anticipated game of the College Football weekend after USC vs. Ohio State.

Most interesting of all is that 80 percent of the action has come in on Notre Dame.  The fact that oddsmakers have not moved the line indicates a strong opinion that Michigan will cover.

When playing with 6 or less days rest, Notre Dame is 6-11.  Though Notre Dame beat Michigan last year, the home team has won 8 of 10 in this series stretching back to 1997.

BetUS.com Analyst D.S. Williams:

"Both Notre Dame and Michigan put up a lot of points in their first games of the season.

"That's actually going to be the key in this game as well. Both offenses are superbly coached with the Wolverines very fast and the Irish very experienced. With both teams playing so well on offense, the winner in regards to the NCAA football lines in this game is going to be the team that can keep their offense on the field and use their defense to slow down the opposing team's offense."

Last week, the Fighting Irish shut out Nevada, a team that was receiving substantial betting action from wiseguys while the Wolverines routed Western Michigan in their openers last week.

Both coaches are regarded as experts on offence and each has some talent to work with.

Jimmy Clausen has thrown for 700-plus yards, nine touchdowns and no interceptions in his last two games, and Irish receivers Michael Floyd and Golden Tate have emerged as deep-play threats.

Michigan's safeties are inexperienced, but junior cornerback Donovan Warren didn't sound worried about facing Floyd or Tate without help.

"Going against those guys one on one, I don't think it'll be a problem," Warren said.

Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez hopes his defensive backs are ready to be busy.

"They're going to get challenged by a quarterback who is playing as well as he can possibly play," Rodriguez said.
