Eli Manning Solid Fantasy Value or ‘Let’s Get Back to Reality’?

New York Giants starting quarterback Eli Manning was on fire Thursday night, a far cry from the first week of the 2014 regular season NFL campaign.  So we are left asking ourselves, does Eli Manning have viable Fantasy value?

Star Fantasy Leagues Fantasy Football

Manning’s Net Expected Points (NEP) value was 4th worst in the league after Week 1.  He did, however, face a Detroit Lions team that currently has the 2nd best defense in the NFL.

Nobody would dare start Eli in their Fantasy Leagues after last year’s piss poor performance and without much improvement expected on the horizon.

Manning’s NEP now could end up being among the top 15 by the end of Week 4, NumberFire.com forecasts.  He surprised Fantasy owners with his four touchdowns against Washington, also completing 28 of 39 passes for 300 yards.

XNSports.com’s Salvatore Stefanile called it coming into Thursday night’s game:

After a dismal preseason and not-so-great start in Week 1, Eli Manning has reeled off two straight games of positive production. It might seem hard to believe after how much talk there was this offseason of Eli not grasping the new Ben McAdo offense in New York.

But 511 passing yards and 4 passing TDs his last two games shows Eli and the Giants offense might be putting the pieces together. With an upcoming schedule that features matchups versus Washington, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Dallas the next four weeks Eli might become a consistent QB2 or better for the foreseeable future.

So is this “other” Manning a fluke?

Only time will tell but SBNation.com advises Fantasy owners keep a close eye on Eli:

Manning is becoming a viable fantasy starter in offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo's new system. Daily fantasy owners should certainly keep an eye on his price.
