College Football Betting – 2012 Week 1: Where The Action is Going

College Football betting for the 2012 Season is just days away with Week 1 action coming in heavy now.  So what teams are getting the most action?  Which teams do the bookies want to cover the most?  Let’s take a look.

The first big game of the 2012 College Football season with ramifications for bookmakers will be South Carolina as a -7 point favorite against Vanderbilt.  Early action had 75 percent going towards the Gamecocks.

Because this will be a nationally televised game featuring a top 25 ranked team in South Carolina we will see solid action, most of it lopsided in favor of the Gamecocks.  Bookmakers, needless-to-say, will be rooting for the underdog Vanderbilt.

Boise State vs. Michigan State is a major game for the bookmaker who will be hoping for a Broncos cover at +6.5 with nearly 80 percent of the betting action going the Spartans way.  This one will be broadcast on ESPN.

While we don’t expect a ton of action coming in on USC as the -40 favorite, those who are betting this game are backing the Trojans at a 90 percent clip over Hawaii on Saturday.

LSU was getting between 60 to 65 percent of the action against North Texas where they are a -43.5 point favorite.  Again, not a heavily wagered on game due to the huge line posted but a lopsided action nonetheless.

Michigan vs. Alabama is the game to watch Saturday with a line of -12.5 on Alabama.  The bookies will want the Wolverines to cover that spread being that between 65 percent and 70 percent of the action is coming in on the favorite.  Gambling911.com anticipates around 60 percent bets placed on the Crimson Tide by game time as the oddsmakers will likely move this line up to drive action towards Michigan.  A critical cover by the Wolverines will be desired by the bookies.

90 percent of the bets were coming in on Oregon as the -35.5 point favorite against Arkansas State.  This is a televised game on ESPN Saturday that should see only modest action due to the wide margin on the line.

While Clemson vs. Auburn will drive in some good action with the line at -3 Clemson, action was especially balanced early on.

Southern Mississippi vs. Nebraska will see some decent action with the Cornhuskers a -19.5 favorite and getting 75 percent of the betting action early on.
