Buffalo Bills Odds to Win the AFC East at 8-1

The Buffalo Bills odds of winning the AFC East were set at 8-1 in 2014.  This is a winnable division if not for the fact that the Patriots play in it and they are a 1-3 favorite to win.

BUFFALO BILLS
Super Bowl Odds: 50/1
AFC Title Odds: 25/1
AFC East Odds: 8/1
O/U Win Total: 6.5 OVER -160

The bad news a la Don Best: “The Bills received some bad news this offseason, losing their leading tackler Kiko Alonso to a season-ending knee injury. However, they will be missing much more than their top linebacker on defense this year. They also lost Pro Bowl safety Jairus Byrd in free agency to the New Orleans Saints as well as their defensive coordinator Mike Pettine, who moved on to take over the head coaching duties with the Cleveland Browns. With all of these losses and not many improvements, the Bills will likely struggle on defense.”

There is some degree of hope on offense.  The team traded up to the No. 3 overall spot and drafted Sammy Watkins out of Clemson.  Watkins will pair with 2013 draft pick Robert Woods and together with RB CJ Spiller could prove to be explosive, according to Don Best.

“With an improved grasp of the playbook and electric playmakers at his disposal, (starting quarterback EJ) Manuel and the Bills offense should be fun to watch this season,” Don Best concluded.

Should Tom Brady suffer an injury this year as he did a few seasons back, Buffalo could stand a chance of winning this division.

Don’t count on that happening though.

The Bills have been installed as a -170 favorite to win OVER 6.5 regular season games.  The UNDER would pay out $14 for every $10 bet.

The strength of schedule is ranked 14th according to USA Today.  But they will only play in six games where the opponent made the 2013 post season (New England twice).  The Chargers and Chiefs at home are winnable games.

Unlike in past seasons, the Bills will not have the pleasure of hosting a warm weather team during the month of December.  In fact, the last two of their games will be played on the road.  Prior to this they host Green Bay.
