Browns vs. Panthers Point Spread: Cam Newton to Start

The Browns vs. Panthers point spread had Carolina at -4.  Both these teams remarkably could still make the Playoffs though the Panthers stand the better chance with a win should New Orleans falter.  The Browns are two games back in the Wildcard race with five teams ahead of them vying for that spot.

Looking at both teams record you would be hard pressed to believe that either stands even the slimmest hope of making the post season.  Carolina with a current 5-8 record could actually walk away with the NFC South title and this is a team that destroyed New Orleans on the road and beat Tampa Bay without Cam Newton last week.  Following a serious car accident last week and two transverse process fractures in his lower back, Newton is expected to start on Sunday.

The Browns are 4-0 Against The Spread in their last 4 games following an ATS loss and 16-5-1 ATS in their last 22 road games vs. a team with a losing home record.  But December has not been kind to Cleveland.  They are just 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games in December during the month.

The Panthers are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games after allowing less than 150 yards passing in their previous game, 10-4-1 ATS in their last 15 home games and 24-10-1 ATS in their last 35 games in December.
