Paula Abdul Might Not Return to American Idol

Paula Abdul

Stalled negotiations and perhaps a little posturing have resulted in claims from American Idol judge Paula Abdul's manager that she might not be returning as a host for television's number one rated show, now going into its ninth season.

"She's not a happy camper as a result of what's going on. She's hurt. She's angry," David Sonenberg, the "Idol" judge's manager, told the newspaper on Friday.

Sonenberg, who just began managing Abdul this past month, claims he is yet to receive a proposal.

"I find it under these circumstances particularly unusual; I think unnecessarily hurtful," he said. "I find it kind of unconscionable and certainly rude and disrespectful that they haven't stepped up and said what they want to do."

The news comes on the heels of American Idol host, Ryan Seacrest, reportedly gotting a $45 million, three-year deal that makes him the highest-paid reality host on television.

Paula Abdul is known more for her quirky behavior than her ability to judge Idol contestants.  But more importantly she has won praise as a compassionate sympathetic judge, blending in perfectly with the often crude and hurtful remarks of colleague Simon Cowell.

American Idol is one of the most bet on television shows.  Several million has been wagered on the program at online gambling sites since Season 4.
