Oscars 2010

When it comes to Oscars 2010, the betting public tends to be on the money most years and it is easy to see their opinions based on last minute betting action.  The folks at Bookmaker.com take plenty of professional gamblers as well, and yes they do bet the Oscars even if this event is thought mostly as targeted for the recreational bettor.

The Hurt Locker continued to get more action than Avatar with odds listed at -200 compared to Avatar's +100.  Avatar would pay even while The Hurt Locker would require a $20 bet to win $10 (the $20 is refunded should the film win Best Picture).

Sandra Bullock was starting to pull away with gamblers for Best Actress while Meryl Streep's odds remained at 2/1.  Bullock was now a -400 favorite at Bookmaker.com.  She was previously listed at -200.

Likewise, more money was being bet on Kathryn Bigelow to win as Best Director.  The line on Bigelow early Sunday afternoon was set at -745.  James Cameron would pay out $25 for every $10 bet should he win as Best Director.

Best Foreign Language Film offered an excellent opportunity for Oscars 2010 betting enthusiasts as The White Ribbon was only a modest favorite at -130 odds.  A Prophet was getting good action and would pay out $22.50 for every $10 bet.  Any other foreign language film to win would pay $15.50 at Bookmaker.com, so A Prophet might be one to consider since they are listing it separate from the remaining nominees.
