Miss Universe 2009 Results

The Miss Universe 2009 results and the payout potentials were looking to be hotter than the winning beauty herself.  Miss Kosovo was promising an $8000 payday as one of the biggest long shots to ever make the final five.   She was the second runner up.  Miss Venezuela was once again crowned Miss Universe, a second consecutive year.  Miss Dominican Republic was the second runner up.  Miss Australia was the third runner up.

Noticeably absent from the 15 finalists were big favorites Miss Ireland, Miss Mexico and Miss Costa Rica.

Miss Australia was the biggest favorite at most online bookmakers, though Miss Dominican Republic was a bigger favorite at some books.  Perennial favorites Miss USA, Miss Puerto Rico and Miss Venezuela were all among the finalists with Miss Dominican Republic (another of the regular favorites to win year after year).  This year's Miss Venezuela was an unusual long shot promising a $4000 payout on a $100 bet.  Two years ago, Miss Japan was crowned as a similar long shot paying $4000 for every $100 bet.

Miss USA Kristen Dalton joined contestants from the following countries among the 15 finalists: Puerto Rico, Iceland, Albania, Czech Republic, Belgium, Dominican Republic, Sweden, Kosovo, Australia, France, Switzerland, South Africa, Croatia and Venezuela.

The top 5 were chosen from this group with the following payout potentials at BetUS.com:

Miss Dominican Republic $900 for every $100 bet

Miss Australia $700 for every $100 bet

Puerto Rico $1400 for every $100 bet

Venezuela $4000 for every $100 bet

Miss Kosovo $8000 for every $100 bet
