James Cameron Best Director Oscar odds were listed at +275, terrific value since Kathryn Bigelow (-455 odds) is expected to walk off with the Best Director Oscar for The Hurt Locker. Cameron, who directed the mega box office smash Avatar, is Bigelow's ex husband.
The payout would be $27.50 for every $10 bet should Cameron win for Best Director at this year's Oscars.
The Hurt Locker's Producer has been banned at this year's Oscars for sending out an email to voters that made a back handed insult towards Avatar. But Cameron doesn't blame his former wife for the producer's actions and has publicly stated that he wishes she will win the Oscar in that category.
"I really couldn't care less about that," Cameron told Access Hollywood regarding Nicolas Chartie e-mails, urging voters to cast their ballot for The Hurt Locker and not a ‘$500 million film,' a presumed dig at Avatar. "It doesn't reflect at all on [director] Kathryn [Bigelow]'s integrity or [screenwriter] Mark Boal's integrity because their producer made a dumb mistake."
