Best Foreign Film Odds – Oscars 2014: Italy’s ‘The Great Beauty’ Odds-on Favori

Bookmaker.eu had odds on the Best Foreign Film for the Oscars 2014.  Bookmaker had odds on over a dozen Oscar categories here.

“The Great Beauty” was the odds-on favorite at -365.

This Italian offering has Journalist Jep Gambardella charming and seducing his way through the lavish nightlife of Rome for decades. Since the legendary success of his one and only novel, he has been a permanent fixture in the city's literary and social circles, but when his sixty-fifth birthday coincides with a shock from the past, Jep finds himself unexpectedly taking stock of his life, turning his cutting wit on himself and his contemporaries, and looking past the extravagant nightclubs, parties, and cafés to find Rome in all its glory: a timeless landscape of absurd, exquisite beauty.

“The Great Beauty” is not necessarily a “lock” when it comes to Oscar betting.

“The Hunt”, courtesy of Denmark, would pay out better than 4/1 odds with a win.

A teacher lives a lonely life, all the while struggling over his son's custody. His life slowly gets better as he finds love and receives good news from his son, but his new luck is about to be brutally shattered by an innocent little lie.

Three other films round out the “field” option at 8/1 odds.  They include Belgium film “The Broken Circle Breakdown”, Cambodia’s “The Missing Picture” and Palestine’s “Omar”.
