Die-hard video game players began standing in line over the last few days in cities across the nation, in hopes of being one of the first owners of the Sony PlayStation 3 . Due to limited stock, not all shoppers wil be rewarded. In fact, it's been downright chaos all morning as stores intrepidly open their doors to exhausted, impatient Playstation fans who are having their own demonic meltdowns.
A melee broke out in California between customers waiting for the new PlayStation 3. A Best Buy employee asked customers to move against a wall and form a line for the new game system. Customers started trampling each other and fighting for the top spot in line.
Some shoppers are not Playstation fans, but opportunists looking to make a quick buck by selling their prized Playstation on Ebay for an absurd amount of money.
Sony is selling PlayStation 3 for $500 to $600 in the U.S. and more than 20 new PlayStation 3 games. However, the price on Ebay for the consoles is currently going over $2,000. Ah ha, perhaps this is why the baby is laughing AND crying!
And, Jr. will need his diapers changed when he learns that Sony is shipping out a minimum of 1 million units by March. So, by being impatient and tempermental, Baby Gamer will spend four times the retail price, when he will most likely be able to buy one at retail in December. Bad, baby.
This would be a good weekend to avoid electronic stores, as those same insane gamers who have been waiting for the PS3 release, will most likely go out to the parking lot, break out a wet-wipe for a quickie shower, and get BACK in line.
The Playstation 3 release was simply the calm before the storm. Set for release Sunday, the Nintendo Wii is expected to debut big. Really big, in fact much bigger than PS3. At the end of the PS3 commercial, baby says "Mama". That's because he needs to borrow money from mom to buy a Wii. Not only do some gamers feel the Wii is the better system, but the price point is a lot lower - retail is $250. The 'Wii' release and hype will no doubt reak havoc on national malls this weekend.
Currently, there are no prop bets out relating to PS3 or Wii. However, there are wagering options on other techie geek devices.
