University of San Diego President Plays Down Sports Bribery Scandal

Mary Lyons, President of the University of San Diego, does not believe a recent point shaving scandal that has rocked the school’s basketball program will have any long time effect.

The USD President told the San Diego Union-Tribune Thursday: “The (sports bribery) incidents that have brought our University into the national spotlight are indeed serious, but they do not define us."

The implications are serious nonetheless.

Third Chicago Cop Stripped of Badge Following Strip Poker Sex Attack Scandal

A third Chicago police officer has been stripped of his badge following a shocking strip poker sex attack case that has taken the city by storm. 

A source tells the Chicago Tribune that the third cop in question has nothing to do with the case, but had a previous complaint filed against him in connection with an incident involving another young woman one night he was partnering with one of the other two accused officers.

FBI Goes Through Van der Sloot Computer to Look for Evidence re Holloway Disappearance

FBI investigators are reviewing a disk taken from Joran van der Sloot’s computer that could potentially link him to the disappearance of Natalee Holloway more than 5 years ago.

Van der Sloot was a prime suspect at the time.  Holloway vanished from the Dutch Antilles island of Aruba while visiting after her High School graduation.  Van der Sloot resided on the island at the time.

Ernie Scherer Murder Trial Closing Arguments This Week

The murder trial of poker player Ernie Scherer III is coming to an end with closing arguments to be heard in the coming week.

Scherer III is accused of killing his parents, Ernest Scherer Jr. and Charlene Abendroth, in their Pleasanton home for a seven-figure inheritance three years ago.   The couple was found brutally stabbed with a Turkish sword and beaten to death. 

Prosecutors will rely heavily on a car that reportedly matches Scherer III’s entering the property when the murder is believed to have occurred.
