In the 80's and early 90's, former mob boss John Gotti (God rest his soul) thought he could keep “spitting in the Government’s face” and get away with it. He was a head mafia figure (and a legend to some) who liked to be on the front line and out in the public eye. Every case he won against the Government made him stronger and more popular. Unfortunately, this also made him a PRIME target for the US Government...one they would eventually “make an example out of”.
Calvin Ayre is the same thing. He likes to sit on the front line, out in the public eye and be the head figure of Online Gambling. The problem in doing this is you now become “the target” of the US Department of justice. Furthermore, when you have a headline on a popular magazine saying “Catch me if you can” you are asking them (US Gov) to come after you, and more importantly, “make an example out of you”.
Please don’t mistake my message...all I am trying to say is Calvin’s desire to be the head figure of Online Gambling, and more importantly, glorifying it in the US is exactly what John Gotti did with his desire to be the head figure of the mafia and make it well known that he is immune (or at least he thought) to the US Government.
On a side note: I have always been a big fan of Calvin Ayre and admire his courage to put himself on the line for the gaming industry. Personally, I hope he will not be arrested b/c I believe in the legalization and regulation of Online Gambling within the US. But if he does get apprehended and end up in jail...it may not be a bad thing either b/c he will then become a Legend to all of us who he has inspired as a man willing to put everything on the line for something he truly believes in...even if it means his life (in jail). Just like John Gotti.
Who knows...maybe when its all over, they will make a movie about his life story also!
Good luck Clavin...you have my support.
