MLB All-Star Game Odds and the Passing of George Steinbrenner
The MLB All-Star Game will take place Tuesday, 8:25 pm Eastern - Fox and it comes at a sad time with the announcement of New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner's sudden passing.
Steinbrenner was 80 years old, though he seemed much younger. He died Tuesday morning after suffering a massive heart attack.
Steinbrenner's family said he was rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa, Florida, where he died.
"It is with profound sadness that the family of George M. Steinbrenner III announces his passing," they said in a statement.
"He was an incredible and charitable man. First and foremost he was devoted to his entire family -- his beloved wife, Joan; his sisters, Susan Norpell and Judy Kamm, his children, Hank, Jennifer, Jessica and Hal; and all of his grandchildren.
"He was a visionary and a giant in the world of sports. He took a great but struggling franchise and turned it into a champion."
Under Steinbrenner's guidance, the Yankees earned seven World Series trophies since 1973. He was the longest-tenured owner in Major League Baseball.

The American League is a slight favorite to win Tuesday's All-Star game for the eighth straight baseball betting season. The American League has some young talent with Tampa's David Price and New York's Phil Hughes but they can't come close to matching the depth of the pitching that the National League has.
The American League does have the hitting edge though, especially in the starting lineup. They boast the league's leading hitter in Miguel Cabrera who will start in place of the injured Justin Morneau, and they have power up and down the lineup with former MVP Joe Mauer, Evan Longoria, Josh Hamilton and Vladimir Guerrero. The National League does have Albert Pujols and Hanley Ramirez but overall they lack the punch of the American League in the starting lineup.
There have been a number of injuries that have changed the makeup of the All-Star game odds as Mariano Rivera, Chase Utley, Dustin Pedroia, Justin Morneau, Jose Reyes, Clay Buchholz, Victor Martinez, Yovani Gallardo and Colorado shortstop Troy Tulowitzki are all injured and won't play while other players like New York's CC Sabathia and Oakland's Trevor Cahill won't be in the game because they pitched on Sunday.
