From
Gambling911.com: The World Series of
Poker Europe 2007 kicks off
6-16 September
2007
With the explosive
growth of poker in the US and now the world, it only
made sense that the World Series of Poker would
expand further into Europe. This year marks
the first ever World Series of Poker Europe.
Interestingly enough, more than half the final table
at the 2007 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas were
born or resided outside the United States.
This event will mark the first time that a WSOP
bracelet will be awarded outside of Las Vegas.
The new poker series
will be held at three casinos operated by London
Clubs International – Fifty, The Casino at The
Empire and the Sportsman.
Events
The first WSOPE will consist of three events. All
three events will take place at LCI's newest casino,
The Casino at Leicester Square which opened in April
2007. The £10,000 main event, however, will begin in
the three casinos and consolidate on September 13,
2007 at Leicester Square.

The event begins on
the 6th September with a three-day, £2,500 H.O.R.S.E
tournament at The Casino at The Empire, LCI’s newest
casino in Leicester Square. The casino will also
host a two-day, £5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha event
starting 8th September.
The World Series of Poker Europe will culminate with
the Main Event – a seven-day, £10,000 No-Limit Texas
Hold’em Championship Event, which promises to be the
largest prize pool in poker outside of Las Vegas.
Early Attendance Confirmations
The event will attract
some of the game's biggest names. Ten time bracelet
winner Doyle Brunson said, "I'm definitely going
[...] I was at the first one here and I want to be
at the first one there."[5] Eleven time bracelet
winner, Phil Helmuth, states, "I'm going to London
to make history again by winning the first WSOP
bracelet ever awarded outside of Las Vegas."[6]
Other elite players intending to play in the first
WSOPE event include Phil Ivey, Erik Seidel, Todd
Brunson, Eli Elezra, Howard Lederer, Humberto Brenes,
and Roland de Wolfe.
BetFair
The 2007 World Series
of Poker Europe culminates with an announcement that
BetFair,
Europe's biggest betting exchange, has joined the
Gambling911.com family.
BetFair Poker is
open to anyone outside the United States.
Early signs from Betfair’s betting exchange suggest
expectations will be met with 700+ participants
being the favourite, available to back at 2.5 (6-4).
This would create a record-breaking prize pool of
more than £7m.
BetFair is a proud
sponsor of WSOP Europe and is offering online
qualifiers for the massive tournament.
Additionally, the
poker room features a $600 New
Players Bonus.
