World Series of Poker  Bracelet Could go to Annie Duke

Annie Duke In Position To Win 2nd WSOP Bracelet

June 5, 2007 (PRWEB) – Annie Duke, one of the world’s best poker professionals and arguably the best female player to ever grace the poker tables, is on course to win her 2nd WSOP bracelet.

Annie has secured a seat at the final table in the Omaha/Seven Card Stud Hi/lo 8/OB event at this year’s World Series of Poker. Annie consistently hovered in the top 10 of the event and heads to the final table in second place with 230,000 in chips. The remaining players are battling for the first place prize of $214,347 and the gold bracelet.

“It’s not about the money,” stated Duke. “It’s about winning that next bracelet.”

WSOP success is not foreign to the UltimateBet.net – http://www.ultimatebet.net  - pro. In 2004, Duke won her first WSOP bracelet in the $2,000 Omaha eight-or-better event. She also took full control of the invite-only Tournament of Champions, taking down fellow UltimateBet.net pro Phil Hellmuth in the process and taking home the $2 million prize.

To date, Annie Duke has cashed 30 times at the World Series of Poker and secured a total of 13 top 10 finishes. In last year’s WSOP Main Event, Duke finished in 88th position.

But this year, it’s not entirely about winning bracelets. Duke is leveraging the popularity of online poker and the WSOP to bring much-needed attention to the ongoing genocide crisis in the Darfur region of Sudan. Together with Don Cheadle, Duke is hosting Ante up for Africa, a No Limit Texas Hold’em tournament created to raise public awareness and funds for Sudan-related charities. Information on the tournament can be found at www.anteupforafrica.org

The final table of the Omaha tournament gets underway on Tuesday, June 5th at 3pm PT.
