Texans Picking Bijan Robinson?

Josh Crishwell of the Houston Chronicle writes that landing a potentially generational talent should trump any immediate needs.

Chris Mortensen said of Robinson: He is "a gold jacket type of player."

"In other words, if he doesn’t get injured, he projects as a future Hall of Fame type of player," Mortensen added. "We all know that shelf life is about five or six years, but guys can do that and have that Hall of Fame resume. By that standard, he should be a top-10 player, maybe even a top-seven player."

Texas lawmakers have no intention of licensing sportsbooks in-state due to their strong anti-gambling stance and this is despite the numerous sports teams with diehard fans and bettors spread throughout the state.

The conflict continued into 2023 with a measure to allow sports betting being considered but also thought to be a long shot.

Powerful Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick has made it clear he is not interested in supporting such legislation.
