Anton Chupkov, Zac Stubblety-Cook and Shoma Sato are technically the co-favorites at around 2-1 odds.  Depending on the book, one may be priced with slightly shorter odds than the other.

On 20 April 2015, at age 18, Chupkov won the gold medal and became the Russian champion in the 200 m breaststroke.

On June 2015 at the inaugural 2015 European Games in Baku, Chupkov won four gold medals, in 200 m breaststroke.

Stubblety-Cook represents Australia.  The Queenslander won a silver at the Pan Pacific Championships in Tokyo – marking his first international medal. Stubblety-Cook was selected for his first Olympics at Tokyo 2020.

Sato competes for the host nation of Japan.

Ippei Watanabe and Arno Kamminga round out the field at +650 and +850, respectively.
