The odds of winning the Women's Diving Individual 3m Springboard had Shi Tingmao as the -165 favorite and Wang Han paying out $200 for every $100 bet.

Tingmao is a Chinese diver who has been dominant in the 3 metre springboard events in the 2010s.

Han specialises in the 1 meter springboard event and has won a silver medal in the 1 meter springboard event in the 2011 World Aquatics Championships.  She, too, represents China.

Jennifer Abel has gained some momentum at the books as she jumps from around 18-1 odds to +650.  The Canadian swimmer has won an Olympic bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics in the 3 m synchro diving event and is a four-time Commonwealth Games champion in the 1 m and 3 m synchronized springboard.  A gold medal win would result in a $650 payout for gamblers.

Pamela Ware also represents Canada and pays $1000 on a $100 bet.  Japan's Sayaka Mikami pays $1800.

They may be defined as “underdogs” or “Cinderella teams”, a term that is usually saved for teams that have little to no chance of winning even a single game during the NCAA Tournament. Teams like Loyola Marymount (1990), George Mason (2006), Davidson (2008), VCU (2011), UConn (2014), and Loyola Chicago (2018) come to mind when conversations turn toward the most surprising tournament runs in recent memory.
