Sir Richard Branson hopes to do for PC games what an 'iTunes' has done for music...
Virgin Games, in conjunction with Game Domain International (GDI) will launch an 'iTunes like' platform for streaming distribution of PC games.
Commenting on the development, Branson said this is really exciting, and that GDI technology will revolutionize how the mass market plays games, giving them more choice for less money.
Several publishers have already expressed an interest in the platform including Koch Media.
"This is a really exciting development for us, as it gives us the opportunity to do for PC Games what iTunes has done for music," said Sir Richard Branson, Chairman of Virgin. "The GDI technology will revolutionise how the mass market will play games, and will give them more choice for less money."
Electronic Arts is also said to be interested in the new product.
Virgin Poker debuted on the Gambling911.com website last week amidst much fanfare. The online poker room does not accept clients from within the US, but Gambling911.com's massive reach across the globe has garnered extensive interest."People love the Virgin brand and trust the company immensely," commented Payton O'Brien of Gambling911.com.
The Gambling911.com website itself will be launching a skill games section over the next few weeks and will be introducing a new sponsor related to that sector.
"Online gaming is an explosive industry that continues to evolve throughout the world while encompassing vast sectors," O'Brien acknowledged.
