Vicki Iseman Romantically Involved With John McCain?  New York Times Shocker

From the paper that endorsed Senator John McCain for President comes word that it is preparing a shock report on a relationship between Mccain and one Vicki Iseman, who just happened to be a Washington lobbyist.

The New York Times report says Vicki Iseman created anxiety within the McCain campaign eight years ago when she turned up with the married senator at fundraisers, in his offices, and aboard a corporate jet.

The times report says that, "convinced the relationship had become romantic, some of his top advisers intervened to protect the candidate from himself, instructing staff members to block the woman's access, privately warning her away...."

Both McCain and the lobbyist say they never had a romantic relationship, and McCain's campaign says he never gave her and her clients political favors on Capitol Hill. The McCain campaign released a statement to CNN reading:

It is a shame that the New York Times lowered its standards to engage in a hit and run smear campaign. John McCain has a 24-year record of serving our country with honor and integrity. He has never violated the public trust, never done favors for special interest or lobbyist, and he will not allow a smear campaign to distract from the issues at stake in this election. Americans are sick and tired of gutter politics, and there is nothing in this story to suggest that McCain has ever violated the principles that have guided his career."

McCain has all but been declared the Republican nominee for President, but neither Mike Huckabee nor Ron Paul have given up hope that McCain's bid for President might at some point "implode".

Ron Paul even told his supporters and the media that he intends to stay in the race until the bitter end, suggesting "you never know what surprises might come up".

Whether the Times story is enough to cast a doubt on the McCain Presidential bid remains to be seen.  Republicans are calling this an "old story".

There remains opposition to McCain becoming the GOP nominee within his own party as he has failed to get embraced by the Conservative base.

Huckabee was listed with 30-1 odds of becoming the next President of the United States at press time.  Ron Paul was listed with 100-1 odds.  McCain had odds of 3-2.  Obama had odds of 2-3.  Hillary Clinton had 3-1 odds, the longest in nearly 9 months.   All odds available at Sportsbook.com.
