UltimateBet
Donates All
Tournament Fees
Towards Ante Up For
Africa
This past weekend
UltimateBet.com
donated all online
poker tournament
proceeds towards
Ante Up for Africa.
This is the charity
their poker pro
Annie Duke has been
heavily immersed in
as of late.
Actor Don Cheadle
was also among the
creators.
On Saturday, June
21st and Sunday,
June 22nd,
UltimateBet featured
the Ante Up For
Africa, a No Limit
Texas Hold’em
tournament creating
to raise public
awareness and funds
for the crisis in
Darfur.
The Ante Up For
Africa poker
tournament takes
place on Wednesday,
July 2nd at the Rio
All-Suite Hotel &
Casino in Las Vegas.
In 2007, the event
captured a lot of
media attention and
generated $700,000
in support of
humanitarian efforts
in Darfur.
Dozens of celebs are
slated to attend,
including Matt
Damon, Ben Affleck,
Adam Sandler, Ray
Romano, Charles
Barkley, Jason Kidd,
Cheryl Hines, and
George Lopez.
The humanitarian
crisis in Darfur has
continued over the
last four years, and
with the dedication
from much of the
poker community,
some relief is
possible.
Cheadle and Duke's
organization has
managed to raise
close to $1 million
already for Darfur
aid.
"After the success
of last year's
tournament, we are
looking forward to
another exciting
year while raising
awareness [about] an
ongoing crisis,"
Duke said.
"It is exciting to
bring the world of
poker and
entertainment
together and we are
once again asking
players who win
prize money to
donate half of their
winnings to our
charities."
