UFC
TUF 7 Finale Betting
Odds - Kendall Grove
UFC TUF 7 Finale
betting odds were
available at most
Gambling911.com
online sportsbooks.
Kendall Grove odds
were set at +155
across the board
with the potential
payout being $155
for every $100 bet.
Some
books were offering
Kendall Grove at
+145, and hence,
providing a reduced
payout.
Diamond
and
Super Book
were two sportsbooks
offering the best
payout odds on
Grove.
Grove will be
fighting Evan Tanner
for the June 21 UFC
TUF 7 Finale bout.
Tanner came in at
around -185 odds.
(please note that
SBG Global
offered Grove at the
lowest risk of -175,
requiring only a
$17.50 bet compared
to a $18.50 bet
elsewhere to win
$10.00).
Grove was a
contestant on The
Ultimate Fighter 3,
a reality television
show, training under
Tito Ortiz. In The
Ultimate Fighter 3,
he won a preliminary
victory against Ross
Pointon by rear
naked choke and in
the semi-finals
defeated Kalib
Starnes; a rib
injury incurred by
Starnes during the
fight caused him to
verbally submit. He
defeated Ed Herman
in the finals in a
close but unanimous
decision (29-28,
29-28, 29-28) in the
series finale,
winning a six-figure
contract. In his
first bout since the
show on October 10,
2006, Grove defeated
then-undefeated
Chris Price in the
first round via a
submission (ground
and pound, due to
strikes).
At UFC 74, Grove
experienced his
first loss in the
UFC to Patrick Côté,
who won by knockout
in the first round.
Grove experienced
his second
consecutive loss at
UFC 80 to Jorge
Rivera by TKO at
1:20 in the first
round.
The 6'6 Kendall
Grove has a record
of 8 wins and 5
losses entering the
UFC TUF 7 Finale.
Grove claims the
losses were
necessary in order
to mature as a UFC
fighter.
"I worried about too
many other people.
You have to worry
about yourself and
put yourself first
sometimes. When I
was on top,
everybody wanted to
be on top with me.
When I was down, all
these people weren't
with me any more. It
was all, 'Oh, you're
a scrub. You lost.'
Don't get me wrong,
I have some true
friends who were
with me through all
of it, but there
were a bunch of
other people who
weren't."
Now, as he returns
to the T.U.F.
Octagon as a
contracted UFC
fighter, Grove isn't
looking to break
into the MMA scene
-- he's just looking
to keep his job,
writes Ben Fowlkes
of CNN
A third straight
loss would all but
guarantee Grove a
spot on the growing
list of fighters
recently cut from
the UFC, Fowkles
points out.
In fact, both Grove
and Tanner are
fighting for their
jobs.
"[BJ Penn's] just
been coaching me,
getting my head
right," Grove said.
"He's the champ.
He's been through
some ups and downs.
He knows how to deal
with that. He's been
talking to me and
making sure my head
is strong and that
I'm ready for this
fight."
