UFC 83 Results:
Underdogs Pay Out
Big Early
UFC
83 results showed
early that perhaps a
trend is starting
once again where big
underdogs provide
some rather hefty
payouts. We
witnessed this early
on with two bouts.
First, Jonathan
Goulet defeated
Kuniyoshi Hironaka
by TKO in the 2nd
round. While
Goulet was not a
huge underdog
compared to some of
the UFC 83 fighters,
he did pay just
under $200 for every
$100 bet at
Sportsbook.com
nonetheless.
The
first real big
payout came when
Jason Day defeated
Alan Belcher as the
+300 underdog,
paying out $300 for
every $100 bet.
TSN.ca called
this one:
1st Round: Day is
fighting out of
Lethbridge, Alberta.
Day rarely fights
past the first
round, so he'll
likely be looking to
end it early.
Belcher is wearing
green and white
trucks made out of
European soccer
pennants. Belcher
gets the advantage
with the rakedown,
but Day feeds elbow
stikes to Belcher's
head from the bottom
position. To there
feet, and Day
unloads straight
elbows and fists to
Belcher's head. The
American is not able
to strike back, and
the referee ends the
fight. Day is the
winner by TKO and in
impressive fashion
at 3:58 of the 1st
round. The
Lethbridge fighter
works the crowd up
into a frenzy.
Mark Bocek would pay
out $400 for every
$100 bet and he
nearly did.
Bocek won the crowd
with his heroics,
making it through
the third round
bloodied and
battered with a
swollen eye.
But it was Mac
Danzig who
ultimately won this
fight.
The
referee rules
Bisping the winner
by TKO during the
first round.
Bisping was a pretty
hefty favorite
coming into this
one.
Nate Quarry goes all
the way as the
favorite and defeats
Canadian Kalib
Starnes, who the
home town crowd
booed.
Elsewhere, Cain
Velasquez defeated
Brad Morris.
Sam Stout
lost a split
decision to Rich
Clementi.
Demian Maia beat Ed
Herman. Jason
MacDonald by TKO
against Joe Doerksen.
Rich Franklin wins
against Travis
Lutter.
Georges St-Pierre
wins the belt!
