UFC 71 Results Have MMA Bettors Hungry for More

Enormous payouts were on tap once again Saturday night as more big underdogs came out on top.  The UFC 71 results featured two big upsets including Chuck Liddell, who was destroyed by Quinton Jackson and perhaps one of the biggest upsets in sports all year,  Houston Alexander defeating the -550 favorite Keith Jardine.

These UFC 71 results were just what underdog bettors had in mind who followed recent Ultimate Fighting Championship events that featured major upsets and huge payouts for gamblers.

While Jackson's win only paid out 2 to 1 odds or $200 for every $100 bet at Betmaker (see website here), Alexander paid out an amazing 4 to 1 odds.  For every $100 bet, $400 was paid out to those lucky enough to have been on Alexander.  Earlier on Saturday Sports911.com suggested savvy sports bettors should not just focus on the Chuck Liddell fight.

Mark Vester of BoxingScene.com:

"There was no revenge at UFC 71, as Quinton "Rampage'' Jackson (27-6) landed a right hook that put Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell (20-4) to sleep, and wins the UFC light heavyweight title.

"It came in the very first round as Liddell went for a punch to the body and Jackson countered with a right hand that put Liddell on his back. Jackson quickly jumped on him with punches as ref John McCarthy stopped the fight when Liddell's body went limp at 1:53 of the first round."

Jackson now holds two wins over Liddell, the first coming at a Pride event in 2003.

-300 favorite Karo Parisyan beat Josh Burkman by a unanimous decision.

Small underdog Terry Martin stopped Ivan Salaverry in the first round.

+255 underdog Kalib Starnes won a unanimous decision over Chris Leben.

Din Thomas took out Jeremy Stephens in the second round with an armbar.

Wilson Gouveia chocked out Carmelo Marrero with a guillotine in the first round.

Already,
Betmaker (see website here) is offering betting odds on both UFC 72 and UFC 73.
