Trevor Immelman US Masters Win Pays Even Odds for Some, $5000 for Others

An early bet on Trevor Immelman to win the 2008 US Masters would have paid out $5000 for every $100 bet.  Heading into Sunday's final round of the US Masters, Immelman's updated odds were slashed to even (bet $100 to win $100).   See Odds Trevor Immelman and other US Masters betting odds here

Immelman was born in Cape Town, South Africa. He took up golf at the age of five. He won the U.S. Amateur Public Links in 1998.  His best place to date has been 5th in the 2005 Masters.  Immelman also placed 6th in the 2007 PGA Championship.  He has led the 2008 US Masters throughout all three rounds heading into Sunday's final round.

His lead is somewhat miraculous considering health issues suffered just months prior to the US Masters.

On December 13, 2007 Immelman withdrew from the South African Airways Open due to severe discomfort around his ribcage area and a problem breathing. He went into surgery the following Tuesday, December 18, 2007, and doctors discovered a lesion approximately the size of a golf ball on his diaphragm. It was diagnosed as a calcified fibrosis tumor. After more tests they discovered that it was benign. This caused him to miss the first eight weeks of the 2008 PGA Tour season.
