Tom Brady's Injury Does Little To Drive Patriots Line Down

New England Patriots Tom Brady may be injured, but even that won't stop the undefeated Patriots from going into the 2008 Super Bowl as double digit favorites.

After opening at -12 1/2, the lowest we could find the line on this game was -11 at Bodog.

Tom Brady plans to play in the Super Bowl. But for the first time he admits he injured his ankle in the AFC Championship.

New England's star quarterback showed no signs of the right ankle injury that had become such a hot topic since he was spotted wearing a protective boot last Monday.

He says he'll be "ready to go" in next Sunday's Super Bowl.

Brady believes he was hurt in the third quarter of the Patriots' 21-12 victory over San Diego last Sunday.

Upon arrival at the Super Bowl site, Brady says, "I'm not concerned about how it's going to affect my play."

Still, the gambling public has been all over the New York Giants at an 81% clip at Sportsbook.com on the spread (now Patriots -12 there) and a whopping 90% on the money line, which has the potential to pay out $340 for every $100 bet on the Giants.

Super Bowl XLII is expected to be the most bet on in history.

The allure of a perfect season for the New England Patriots or a historic upset for the underdog New York Giants may boost Super Bowl wagers at Las Vegas sports books above $100 million for the first time.

Last year's National Football League championship game between Indianapolis and Chicago resulted in $93.1 million in legal bets at Nevada's 176 sports books, down from the record $94.5 million wagered on the Super Bowl in 2006.
