Tiger
Woods Not a Good Bet
Tiger Woods entered the 2007 Masters Sunday only one stroke behind Stuart Appleby and that's good enough to make him a 4 to 7 favorite to win.
This is Carrie Stroup with your 2007 Masters Golf update. And while Tiger Woods may enjoy favorable odds, not so for the sports bettor who has money on him.
"Woods would pay out only $4 for every $7 bet," says Dan Shapiro of Sports911.com. "You would get your initial $7 back as well. For many, a $4 profit is well worth the price when riding Woods."
But for the gambler looking to make some serious cash, Stuart Appleby has the promise of paying out $9 for every $2 bet or $450 for every $100 bet.
With an even-par 72, Woods vaulted into today's last group, one stroke behind Appleby, who shot 73 and was at two-over 218 -- the highest score by a third-round leader in Masters history courtesy of a cold, windy and difficult day.
After putting together a spectacular front nine of 34, Woods bogeyed the final two holes, slamming his putter into his bag on the 18th green. He was angry with what he thought was a wasted opportunity.
"You know you're going to get bad breaks with the gusts," he said. "Hit quality shots and get casually hosed. That's the way it is. Hopefully you get committed and hit the proper shot and then get lucky at the same time with the wind."
