The Sopranos on Broadway? Dr. Melfi Suicide?

Heading into the Sopranos finale our own Tyrone Black offered up his predictions as to what would happen during the final airing and even beyond (including a Dr. Melfi suicide scenario)....with the Sopranos maybe heading to Broadway? (see Tyrone Black's Sopranos Finale Predictions Part I)

Paulie: We will find out that he tipped the attempted hit on Phil to someone in New York.

Silvio: Expect to find Sil floating from wires in a deep coma.

Carmela: Who cares (really).

AJ: He will die in a car crash…probably fleeing a violent scene in a manic depressive rage.

Meadow: She lives.

Tony Soprano: We will not know if he lives or if he dies. We will be able to infer either. And it is because of the ambiguity of whether he is alive or dead by the end of the show, that I have characterized this last show as the ‘finale’.

Let’s bet clear about something: we are not ready for this thing to be over – FUHGGETTAABOUTIT! . Did Tony help the FBI find identify a terrorist cell? Does Sil come out of the coma? Will Janice step into Bobbies shoes, and become like Big Pussy’s wife? And who will attend the funeral service for Junior Soprano – whenever that is? For this and many more curiosities for which I say that this thing will not be a true finale… and neither does David Chase or the any of other producers of this very lucrative commodity. I expect HBO has a non-compete clause which prevents Chase and crew from developing even a likeness of the series – on television. But rest assured, in five years (or sooner), the Sopranos are coming back into our lives by way of the great white way – (yes sir) BROADWAY!

Yes, you first heard it here: The epic saga of the Soprano family will continue on, but as a Broadway show. It will be a musical-drama with some of the key characters, as well as some of the dearly departed. The show will answer a few of the many questions we have about the events of this Sunday’s finale, as well provide some insight to background events and the early history of members of the family. And that will be the real gem of the performance. It will be called either “The Sopranos: THEN & NOW” or ”The Family - NOW… and THEN!”

So this fan is comfortable and is handling his anxiety of the ‘finale’ with ease. Still (of course) all my telephones will be off, and my scotch will be poured – neat (of course) - when the clock strikes 8:59pm on Sunday. I know in a few years, it all will come back to me… just like the summer wind. There is no way David Chase is going to miss the opportunity to make additional history (or a carico di soldi) with a successful Broadway show... FUHGGETTAABOUTIT!!
