The Rise and Fall of BetonSportsAn eBook has just been released which chronicles one of the most fascinating stories related to the online gambling industry. For many a sports gambler, BetonSports was their entry way into this new arena.
But things were not always pretty at BetonSports. Ultimately, the company shut down in disgrace. Two of its top executives remain in custody awaiting trial.
"I have my reasons for writing this book that you will read about," said the book's author, Hacksaw Hemingway, an obvious pseudonym. "I have held off on this book for years. I just found time."
The book is not at all flattering towards BetonSports or its founder.
A description of the book reads:
"An inside look at the online gaming industry with specific focus about BetOnSports.com through the eyes of a former executive consultant who shares details about sex, drugs, gambling, illicit activities, and good laughs. Read up on how the controlled madness of one of the original giants of the online gaming industry mixed in with a little bit of insanity and poor decisions led to the demise."

The sprawling Mall San Pedro, much of which was once occupied by BetonSports
An excerpt demonstrates that Hemingway was indeed very active in the online (offshore) sports betting realm.
"The city of San Jose, Costa Rica was abuzz back at the turn of the century as the capital of offshore gaming. San Jose today compared to 2001 is a ghost town for online gaming with only a few companies left behind as most companies have fled under government pressures stemming from the United States. Just about every time you would go out no matter where you went to a bar, restaurant, hotel, or cat house you would find offshore gaming owners, employees and even a few consultants like myself blowing a lot of cash while enjoying the power of the US dollar in Costa Rica. It was a fun time. A wild time. A profitable time. Unfortunately the leader of the era didn't want to transition the industry into a new era of legal acceptance from the country (USA) that supported better than 80% of the revenues for the online gaming industry. Today atop the Mall San Pedro is vacant office space that once housed the shrine of online gaming highlighted by a roof top swim pool with the logo of BetOnSports.com at the bottom of the pool. This is where my career began."
