(Zapote,
Costa Rica, 23 July 2005) -
Terrell
Owens is stirring up the NFL pot again. The
question is, will he get a new contact from his
current team, the Philadelphia Eagles? Owens signed
a 7-year $49 million deal last March with the
Eagles. Now Owens has hired a new agent, NFL power
broker Drew Rosenhaus, who is known for getting the
most money for his players from the teams they play
for. Now Rosenhaus is letting it be known that T.O
wants a new deal and feels that he is not being paid
what he is worth.
Rosenhaus feels that Owens is the number one WR in
the NFL and should be compensated as such.
It's unlikely the Eagles would redo Owens' deal,
which included a signing bonus of more than $10
million.
Owens set team records with 14 touchdown receptions
and seven 100-yard games, and finished with 77
catches for 1,200 yards.
He
broke his leg and severely sprained his right ankle
in Week 15 against Dallas, an injury that sidelined
him until the Super Bowl. Owens went against his
doctor's advice by returning to the starting lineup
against New England, just 6 1/2 weeks
after ankle surgery, and was Philadelphia's best
offensive player. He caught nine passes for 122
yards in the Eagles' 24-21 loss to the Patriots.
"T.O is
simply one of the best wideouts in the NFL," said
Wagerweb.com CEO Dave Johnson. "He means a
tremendous amount to the Eagles and it would be
crazy for them not to find a way to keep Owens in
Philly. We have already received several wagers on
Owens getting a new contact and staying in
Philadelphia."
