Seattle Seahawks Bettors May Be Ignoring Criminal Prosecution Concerns

If you live in Seattle or anywhere else in Washington State, you cannot - we repeat -you cannot bet the Seahawks online today, or any other day for that matter.

Washington State residents will be closely monitored on Saturday to ensure there is no gambling on their Playoff team, the Seattle Seahawks, who take on the Washington Redskins.  Washington is the first and only state that has made actual betting over the Internet a crime where the bettor can face a stiff prison sentence.

Governor Christine Gregoire's administration has made it clear that violators will be charged with a Class C felony, the equivalent sentence of a multiple offense child molester and meth lab operator.

This apparently hasn't stopped citizens of that state from betting on the Seahawks.  Seattle is the most bet on team Saturday with plenty of wagers coming in from the state of Washington, an anonymous online sportsbook operator confirmed to Gambling911.com Saturday morning.

"Despite our warnings to these residents, they are still determined to place bets and face dire consequences from the Gregoire regime," says Payton O'Brien, Senior Editor of the Gambling911.com website.  "If Washington residents want to gamble, they need to go to one of the local Indian casinos to do so.  You can't bet sports at those."

Three state citizens have already been punished for their online gambling crimes.
